4  Background Information:                

గతంలో ఒక సంఘటన జరుగుతూ ఉండినప్పుడు దాని వెనక జరుగుతున్న మరికొన్ని సంఘటనలను కూడా వివరించడానికి ఈ Past continuous tense ఉపయోగిస్తారు.

Example:                                                                                                         

1.The sun was shining, and the birds were singing as we walked through the park మేము పార్క్ గుండా  వెళుతూ ఉండగా సూర్యుడు ప్రకాశిస్తూ ఉండినాడు మరియు పక్షులు  పాడుతూ ఉండినాయి
The sun was not shining, and the birds were not singing as we walked through the park. మేము పార్క్ గుండా వెళుతూ ఉండగా సూర్యుడు ప్రకాశిస్తూ  ఉండలేదు మరియు పక్షులు  పాడుతూ  ఉండలేదు
