Past perfect continuous tense         

When highlighting the length or continuity of an activity that was in progress prior to another action or point in the past, the past perfect continuous tense is employed. These are the primary scenarios in which it’s employed: 

గతంలో ఒక పని ప్రారంభించబడి కొంత సమయ వ్యవధిలో కొన్ని గంటలుగా లేదా నెలలుగా వారాలగా జరుగుతూ ఉండిన పనులను నొక్కి చెప్పడానికి Past perfect continuous tense ని ఉపయోగిస్తారు. ప్రస్తుతం ఈ పనులు లేవు అవి గతంలో జరిగిపోయినవి.

Past perfect continuous tense లో వాక్య  నిర్మాణం చేయటానికి అన్ని సబ్జెక్టులకు (He, She, It, I, We, You, They)  Had been అనే సహాయక క్రియను  ఉపయోగించి Verb మొదటి రూపానికి ‘Ing’ చేర్చాలి

Sub + Had been + V4 + Obgect

Negative sentences and interrogative sentences టేబుల్ చూడడం ద్వారా ఆటోమేటిక్ గా మీకు అర్థం అవుతుంది. 

1. Length of an Action Before Another Action:     

 To express the amount of time that an action has been ongoing prior to another action or earlier in history.

గతంలో ఒక పని కంటే ముందు కొనసాగుతూ ఉండిన మరియొక పనిని తెలియజేయడానికి ఈ Past perfect continuous tense ఉపయోగిస్తారు. 

Example: 

1.She had been studying for hours when he arrived.	అతను వచ్చేసరికి ఆమె గంటల తరబడి చదువుతూ ఉండింది.
She had not been studying for hours when he arrived.	అతను వచ్చేసరికి ఆమె గంటల తరబడి చదువుతూ  ఉండలేదు.
Had she been studying for hours when he arrived?	అతను వచ్చేసరికి ఆమె గంటల తరబడి చదువుతూ  ఉండిందా?
Had she not been studying for hours when he arrived?	అతను వచ్చేసరికి ఆమె గంటల తరబడి చదువుతూ  ఉండలేదా?
2.She had been studying for hours when her friend finally called.	ఆమె స్నేహితురాలు చివరకు ఫోన్ చేసినప్పుడు ఆమె గంటల తరబడి చదువుకుంటూ ఉండింది.
She had not been studying for hours when her friend finally called.	ఆమె స్నేహితురాలు చివరకు ఫోన్ చేసినప్పుడు ఆమె గంటల తరబడి చదువుకుంటూ ఉండలేదు.
Had she been studying for hours when her friend finally called?	ఆమె స్నేహితురాలు చివరకు ఫోన్ చేసినప్పుడు ఆమె గంటల తరబడి చదువుకుంటూ ఉండిందా.?
Had she not been studying for hours when her friend finally called?	ఆమె స్నేహితురాలు చివరకు ఫోన్ చేసినప్పుడు ఆమె గంటల తరబడి చదువుకుంటూ ఉండ లేదా.?
3.They had been travelling for days before they reached their destination.	వారు తమ గమ్యాన్ని చేరుకోవడానికి ముందు రోజుల తరబడి ప్రయాణం చేస్తూ ఉండినారు.
They had not been travelling for days before they reached their destination.	వారు తమ గమ్యాన్ని చేరుకోవడానికి ముందు రోజుల తరబడి ప్రయాణం చేస్తూ ఉండలేదు.
Had they been travelling for days before they reached their destination?	వారు తమ గమ్యాన్ని చేరుకోవడానికి ముందు రోజుల తరబడి ప్రయాణం చేస్తూ ఉండినార.?
Had they not been travelling for days before they reached their destination?	వారు తమ గమ్యాన్ని చేరుకోవడానికి ముందు రోజుల తరబడి ప్రయాణం చేస్తూ ఉండలేదా.?
4. He had been waiting at the bus stop for thirty minutes when the bus arrived.	బస్సు వచ్చేసరికి అరగంట పాటు అతను బస్ స్టాప్  వద్ద వెయిట్ చేస్తూ ఉండినాడు.
He had not been waiting at the bus stop for thirty minutes when the bus arrived.	బస్సు వచ్చేసరికి అరగంట పాటు అతను బస్ స్టాప్  వద్ద వెయిట్ చేస్తూ  ఉండలేదు.
Had he been waiting at the bus stop for thirty minutes when the bus arrived?	బస్సు వచ్చేసరికి అరగంట పాటు అతను బస్ స్టాప్  వద్ద వెయిట్ చేస్తూ ఉండినాడ.?
Had he not been waiting at the bus stop for thirty minutes when the bus arrived?	బస్సు వచ్చేసరికి అరగంట పాటు అతను బస్ స్టాప్  వద్ద వెయిట్ చేస్తూ ఉండలేదా?
5.We had been working on the project for weeks before we presented it.	మేము దానిని అందించడానికి ముందు వారాలపాటు ప్రాజెక్ట్‌పై పని చేస్తూ ఉండినాము.
We had not been working on the project for weeks before we presented it.	మేము దానిని అందించడానికి ముందు వారాలపాటు ప్రాజెక్ట్‌పై పని చేస్తూ ఉండలేదు.
Had we been working on the project for weeks before we presented it?	మేము దానిని అందించడానికి ముందు వారాలపాటు ప్రాజెక్ట్‌పై పని చేస్తూ ఉండినామ.?
Had we not been working on the project for weeks before we presented it?	మేము దానిని అందించడానికి ముందు వారాలపాటు ప్రాజెక్ట్‌పై పని చేస్తూ ఉండలేదా.?
6. I had been living in that apartment for a year before I found a new place.	నేను కొత్త స్థలాన్ని కనుగొనడానికి ముందు నేను ఆ అపార్ట్మెంట్లో ఒక సంవత్సరం పాటు నివసిస్తూ ఉండినాను.
I had not been living in that apartment for a year before I found a new place.	నేను కొత్త స్థలాన్ని కనుగొనడానికి ముందు నేను ఆ అపార్ట్మెంట్లో ఒక సంవత్సరం పాటు నివసిస్తూ ఉండలేదు.
Had I been living in that apartment for a year before I found a new place?	నేను కొత్త స్థలాన్ని కనుగొనడానికి ముందు నేను ఆ అపార్ట్మెంట్లో ఒక సంవత్సరం పాటు నివసిస్తూ    ఉండి నాన.?

7.She had been cooking dinner for an hour when her guests arrived.	ఆమె యొక్కఅతిథులు వచ్చినప్పుడు ఆమె ఒక గంట పాటు రాత్రి భోజనం  వండుతూ ఉండింది.
She had not been cooking dinner for an hour when her guests arrived.	ఆమె యొక్కఅతిథులు వచ్చినప్పుడు ఆమె ఒక గంట పాటు రాత్రి భోజనం  వండుతూ  ఉండలేదు.

9. He had been practising the guitar for months before he performed on stage.	అతను వేదికపై ప్రదర్శన ఇవ్వడానికి ముందు నెలల తరబడి గిటార్ ప్రాక్టీస్ చేస్తూ ఉండినాడు.
He had not been practising the guitar for months before he performed on stage.	అతను వేదికపై ప్రదర్శన ఇవ్వడానికి ముందు నెలల తరబడి గిటార్ ప్రాక్టీస్ చేస్తూ ఉండలేదు

2. Reason behind a former event or circumstance:   

To demonstrate how a current action led to a specific circumstance or outcome in the past.

గతంలో జరుగుతూ ఉండిన ఒక పని మరొక ఫలితానికి కారణం అవుతుంది ఇటువంటి వాక్యాలను తెలియజేయటానికి కూడా Past perfect continuous tense ని ఉపయోగిస్తారు.

 

యాక్టీవ్ వాయిస్, పాసివ్ వాయిస్ గురించి కొంత తెలుసుకొని కింది ఉదాహరణలు చదవండి. కొద్దిరోజుల తర్వాత మేము ఇదే ప్లేస్ లో యాక్టీవ్ వాయిస్ మరియు పాసివ్ వాయిస్  అప్డేట్ చేస్తాము

1.He was tired because he had been working all day.	రోజంతా పనిచేస్తూ ఉండడం వలన అతను అలసిపోయి ఉండినాడు.

They were not late because they had not been stuck in traffic for hours.	ఒక గంటల తరబడి ట్రాఫిక్ లో చిక్కుకొని పోకపోవడం వలన ఆలస్యం కాలేదు.
Were they late because they had been stuck in traffic for hours?	వారు గంటల తరబడి ట్రాఫిక్ లో చిక్కుకొని పోవడం వలన ఆలస్యమైనారా?

9. We were delighted because we had been planning the surprise party for months.	మేము నెలల తరబడి ఆశ్చర్యకరమైన పార్టీని ప్లాన్ చేస్తున్నందున మేము సంతోషంగా ఉండినాము.
We were not delighted because we had not been planning the surprise party for months.	మేము నెలల తరబడి ఆశ్చర్యకరమైన పార్టీని ప్లాన్ చేయనందున మేము సంతోషంగా  ఉండలేదు.

She was not annoyed because she had not been waiting for him for over an hour.	గంటకు పైగా అతని కోసం ఎదురు చూస్తూ ఉండనందన ఆమె చిరాకుగా ఉండలేదు.
Was she annoyed because she had been waiting for him for over an hour?	గంటకు పైగా అతని కోసం ఎదురు చూస్తూ ఉండినందున ఆమె చిరాకుగా ఉండిందా?

11.He was satisfied because he had been practising the speech for days.	అతను చాలా రోజులుగా ప్రసంగం ప్రాక్టీస్ చేస్తూ ఉండి నందున అతను సంతృప్తిగా ఉండినాడు.
He was not satisfied because he had not been practising the speech for days.	అతను చాలా రోజులుగా ప్రసంగం ప్రాక్టీస్ చేస్తూ ఉండకపోవడం వలన అతను సంతృప్తిగా ఉండలేదు.
Was he satisfied because he had been practising the speech for days?	చాలా రోజులుగా ప్రసంగం సాధన చేస్తూ ఉండడం వలన అతను సంతృప్తిగా ఉండినాడా?

3. History of a former occurrence:          

To give background information about a Past action or event while highlighting its continuing character. 

గతంలో జరిగిపోయిన ఒక పని గురించి వివరించడానికి ఆ పని వెనక దానికి అనుబంధంగా కొంతకాలంగా జరుగుతూ వచ్చినటువంటి వాటిని గురించి తెలియజేయడానికి కూడా ఈ Past perfect continuous tense ని ఉపయోగిస్తారు.

Example: 

1. They had been living in the city for a few years before they moved to the countryside.	పల్లెలకు వెళ్ళకు ముందు వారు కొన్ని సంవత్సరాలుగా పట్టణంలో నివసిస్తూ ఉండినారు
They had not been living in the city for a few years before they moved to the countryside.	పల్లెలకు వెళ్ళకు ముందు వారు కొన్ని సంవత్సరాలుగా పట్టణంలో నివసిస్తూ ఉండలేదు
Had they been living in the city for a few years before they moved to the countryside?	పల్లెలకు వెళ్ళకు ముందు వారు కొన్ని సంవత్సరాలుగా పట్టణంలో నివసిస్తూ ఉండినారా?
Had they not been living in the city for a few years before they moved to the countryside?	పల్లెలకు వెళ్ళకు ముందు వారు కొన్ని సంవత్సరాలుగా పట్టణంలో నివసిస్తూ ఉండలేదా?
2. She had been teaching at the school for five years when she decided to pursue a different career.	ఆమె వేరే వృత్తిని కొనసాగించాలని నిర్ణయించుకున్నప్పుడు ఆమె ఐదు సంవత్సరాలు పాఠశాలలో  బోధిస్తూ ఉండింది.
She had not been teaching at the school for five years when she decided to pursue a different career.	ఆమె వేరే వృత్తిని కొనసాగించాలని నిర్ణయించుకున్నప్పుడు ఆమె ఐదు సంవత్సరాలు పాఠశాలలో  బోధిస్తూ  ఉండలేదు.

He had not been working at the company for a decade before he was promoted to manager.	అతను మేనేజర్‌గా పదోన్నతి పొందకముందు ఒక దశాబ్దం పాటు కంపెనీలో పని  చేస్తూ ఉండలేదు.
